The Permanent Conference of Rectors of Georgia extends solidarity to the Ukraine

The Permanent Conference of Rectors of Georgia extends solidarity to the Ukrainian people and the communities of the Ukrainian universities.

We, the members of the Permanent Conference of Rectors of Georgia, strongly condemn Russia’s military aggression and express our support to Ukraine in its struggle for freedom.

The Permanent Conference of Rectors, uniting 35 accredited higher educational institutions of Georgia, is ready to provide assistance to all universities in Ukraine.

We hope that with the support of the international community, the war will be ended in the shortest possible time and peace and security will prevail in Ukraine.

The Permanent Conference of Rectors was founded in July 2019 and it shares the fundamental principles of the Magna Charta of the European Universities (Magna Charta Universitatum), such as ensuring academic freedom, autonomy for universities, sharing European and national humanist traditions, integration of teaching and research, etc. It is a platform, where the rectors discuss the challenges facing higher education, talk about the issues related to financing of higher educational institutions and coordinate their positions on education reforms. The Permanent Conference of Rectors of Georgia unites 35 higher educational institutions. The rector of TSU, George Sharvashidze, is the Chairman of the Permanent Conference of Rectors.
